OUR THEME VERSE - Ephesians 2:8-10:

THE BEAUTIFUL WEDDING PARTY:

Susan in her hot blue dress did the girls' eye makeup - 7 girls in an hour! She is amazing and will be getting married to Derek (one of Erik's groomsmen) this fall. Thank you Susan for everything!
THE BRIDSEMAID DRESSES: A lot of you have been asking, so here's a brief synopsis - Back in March 2005, I found a $250 Vera Wang bridesmaid dress I really liked in NYC. Christina tried it on and looked great in it, but the $250 price tag didn't fit my budget. Many of my friends have used the mysterious woman in downtown L.A., "Teresa," and I was told she could copy any style if you have a picture. I met her and was confident she could make the Vera Wang look-a-like. Edith then helped me find the metallic bronze satin for $3.00/yard. Because my bridemaids were so skinny, it took an average of 1 1/2 yards per girl. Therefore, each dress came out to about $60/each. I highly recommend "Teresa" -Click here for Teresa's contact info.

Darlene & Chang - awesome Reception helpers - I owe them BIG TIME. I love their willingness to help out in the Arizona heat!

CBC college students and h.s. seniors in attendance - holllaaaa!

| On Saturday afternoon (March 11), my amazing bridesmaids through me a shower in CA! Here are some pics from this past weekend! I had a great time and got to reunite with some old UCLA friends whom I hadn't seen too much after college - I was so touched that people came from all over to join in the festivities! Here are some highlights (Sorry - I don't have too many pics yet!)
FOOD:
Bertina, Grace, Christina, Amy, Kim and Lianne helped with the food - it was so good and consisted of all my favorites - Chinese Chix Salad, Island Fried Chicken, Kalua Pork etc..

Darlene made the greatest desserts ever - the ever popular chocolate fountain:

and her amazing Pana Cotta with fresh berries: (Look at the chocolate AE and the cool pink chocolate heart!)

GAMES:
It's a must to play games at a bridal shower and I loved how my bridesmaids catered them around my favorite shows - The first being PROJECT RUNWAY - Bridal Edition! :) They split into teams and had to design a 'dress' that I would wear down the aisle - Who would I give my "Aveda Zane" to and who would be the winner of Project Runway? You be the judge - Here were the models:
#1: JEE-licious!

#2: Liz Liu!

#3: Liz Chang!

#4: Jenn Tong!

#5: Wendy Quan! (with a slight wardrobe malfunction)

#6: Christina Kato!

All the contestants on the runway:

And the winner was team #2 because they know "how to design for a women's body:" They were IN! haha - One question though - "Where's Andre?!" <- if you watch the show you know what i'm talking about! haha

GUESTS:
Erik always said me and Patricia (good seeing you girl!) had the highest voices that he had ever heard - one day we will make him an audio book on tape - maybe the Bible on tape? haha

P-DUB CLUB REPRESENT! (This was our small group Bible study for almost 3 years - Hollaaa!)

BRIDESMAIDS REPRESENT (6 out of 8):
I was soo excited to see them and was so ecstatic that Lianne and Christina could fly out from NYC for the weekend. Deb and Edith - we missed you!

I'll post more pics once people send me them!
We had a small bachelorette afterwards at one of my best friend's parent's beach house in La Jolla Cove. I'll post those pics when I get them!
Thanks again Amy for hosting this at your hizzouse! | | |
| Man – first day of new job in AZ = Welcome back Xanga entries!
For the next 3 months, I’m in an interim position, until they hire 2 more staff. After that, I will serve as the Product Development Manager at a non-profit publishing house in Phoenix, Arizona. Apparently, God doesn’t want me and Erik to make money haha. He keeps on placing us in “ministry” settings. I think it’s because God knows if we did have a lot of money, you’d see us walking in the mall with head-to-toe Louis Vuitton on, and we would “only wear Burberry to swim.”
The new job is nice – good location off my favorite freeway in AZ – the Squaw Peak freeway. They also gave me three computers to use – a MAC for designing, a PC for general communications and a laptop. I realize, I don’t like PC’s because I don’t know how to use them.
I moved back to Phoenix, after being in LA for 8 ½ years.
It hasn’t hit me yet, but it sure will hit hard when I finally realize the following:
A.) I don’t have single occupant access in carpool lane with my Prius. (law only passed in CA and NM)
B.) I can’t eat Zankous Chicken – I swear there is crack in that chicken – it’s so addictive!
C.) I don’t see one Asian person in 24 hours except for my mom, dad or grandma.
D.) I don’t see one advertisement for Disney’s 50th Anniversary, because the only form of outdoor entertainment nearby is Golf-N-Stuff.
E.) I can’t chill at anyone’s condo or apt. unless I drive 6 hours, so give me advance notice if you’re throwing a shin-dig.
Keep in touch!

| HI! I know I usually don't post - but I have exciting news this time - I went to Belagio Buffet this weekend!!!

Haha - there's more - I got engaged!
Here is a basic account of what happened (you can email me @ ambernicole@gmail.com if you want a more detailed version which is about a month and a half of details...)
*Engagement story* June 11, 2005*
There were a lot of details to the story, so you can email me if you want the extended story (which actually is about a month and half of details.)
(Sorry - even my short version - is pretty long. haha.)
Basically - Erik staged a FAKE Las Vegas trip. He did this by recruiting my friend Amy Kim to set up a "girls weekend to Vegas" under the pretense that she was going to Mexico for the whole month of July for her Samoa missions training, and that the weekend of June 11-12 was her only free Saturday to see her girl friends until September. She also said that she had 2 FREE rooms and a FREE rental car that she won from her Credit Card points.
I completely fell for it and booked that weekend to go to Vegas to spend time with her and because I knew it was a complimentary trip. I'm a sucker for free complimentary things!
Well, one by one, the girls she invited kept on "flaking out" and as of last week, there were only 3 of us left, me Amy and Grace . She then invited our mutual friend Dave . Erik and Dan

end up coming so Dave doesn't have to be the only boy.
We drove to Vegas on Saturday morning, and right when we get there, Erik says he has to go to the bathroom. We let him out while we park the car. When we meet him in the lobby, he runs up to us and says, "a family just cancelled their reservations to fly on a helicopter to the Grand Canyon! If we decide right now to all go, we can fly for only $100!" Everyone enthusiastically responds that they want to go, so I join in.
We get on a helicopter and fly to the Grand Canyon (about 45 minutes/one way). Then the helicopter LANDS at the base of the Grand Canyon. We take pictures and video and then Erik grabs my hand and says the "REAL REASON" why this Vegas trip was planned, was so he could propose; AND, there was never a "girls trip," Amy is NOT going to Mexico and that this group was the original group FROM THE GETGO. (He planned this back in April with Dave, Dan, Grace & Amy.) I could not believe the whole trip was fake, just so we could come to the Grand Canyon for the proposal. haha. I still can't believe it! There was an evite and everything!
Afterwards, we flew back to Las Vegas, had Belagio Buffet and drove back to Los Angeles the next morning. ----------------------------------------
It was a whirlwind adventure, but was very symbolic that Erik chose the Grand Canyon. As we both feel called to settle in AZ - we know that there will be a lot of ups and downs in ministry, but the Lord will always be with us.

(at Amy's house before we left)

(all these people were in on it EXCEPT FOR ME! haha. I thought it was just so ironic that erik and his good friends dan & dave and me and my good friends grace and amy happened to be the ones that came!)

(flying to the Grand Canyon)

(arriving at the Grand Canyon)

(landing right next to the Colorado River - I was SOO excited when it landed - who knew you could do that? I thought the only way to the bottom of the Grand Canyon was by donkey like when the Brady Bunch went down on donkeys, and Alice's donkey almost fell off the edge....)

(I was totally crying, but look all tough with my sunglasses and hat. haha)

(poor erik scratched his knees on the rocks.)

(this is Christina Nishihara's favorite picture because the helicopter guy was just chilling and looks so confused...though he knew what was happening. haha.)
--------- Thanks for sharing in our excitement! Some of you have seen us together since we were 20 and started dating! CRAZY!
More pictures soon.

| Hi! I just took this test from my friend jeremy's site - it's pretty interesting - i don't know the accuracy, but i always get a kick out of online tests - this one was pretty correct with the way i think and feel... so i give it a two thumbs up. i also enjoyed how it told me because of my left-skewed brain usage, i should somewhat always feel "agitated" and like you have to 'catch up" haha. this is actually quite true because I always feel like i'm 'catching up' which is why i end up having to cancel on things because i'm trying to 'catch up' on things i feel i should have already done. it also told me that i'd be a good athlete and design consultant! haha. i was so encouraged, until it also told me I would also be a good engineering technician and scientist.. man am i really that dorky and nerdy? haha. Try the test and post up your results too!
http://www.mindmedia.com/brainworks/profiler
here are my results:
Your Brain Usage Profile:
Auditory : 46% Visual : 53% Left : 62% Right : 37%
amber, you are somewhat left-hemisphere dominant and show a preference for visual learning, although not extreme in either characteristic. You probably tend to do most things in moderation, but not always.
Your left-hemisphere dominance implies that your learning style is organized and structured, detail oriented and logical. Your visual preference, though, has you seeking stimulation and multiple data. Such an outlook can overwhelm structure and logic and create an almost continuous state of uncertainty and agitation. You may well suffer a feeling of continually trying to "catch up" with yourself.
Your tendency to be organized and logical and attend to details is reasonably well-established which should afford you success regardless of your chosen field of endeavor. You can "size up" situations and take in information rapidly. However, you must then subject that data to being classified and organized which causes you to "lose touch" with the immediacy of the problem.
Your logical and methodical nature hamper you in this regard though in the long run it may work to your advantage since you "learn from experience" and can go through the process more rapidly on subsequent occasions.
You remain predominantly functional in your orientation and practical. Abstraction and theory are secondary to application. In keeping with this, you focus on details until they manifest themselves in a unique pattern and only then work with the "larger whole."
With regards to your career choices, you have a mentality that would be good as a scientist, coach, athlete, design consultant, or an engineering technician. You can "see where you want to go" and even be able to "tell yourself," but find that you are "fighting yourself" at the darndest times.
----- WOW - so true. I always feel like I'm fighting myself in the decisions I make. I always thought it was because I'm an only child, but apparently, it's because of my brain-balance. haha. | | |
